On 4th January, Magma Aviation transported solar-powered refrigerators to Madagascar. The total load consisted of 598 units and weighed 104 tons, filling the entire hold of the B747 TF-AMP. The flight departed LGG (Liege Airport) and arrived in TNR (Ivato International Airport) with one-stop on route to refuel and switch the crew over.
The refrigerators are to be used by medical professionals to keep vaccines in. They are an essential piece of equipment, enabling medics to keep vaccines in the correct conditions. Specialist medical equipment is essential to rolling out a vaccine program, making this delivery vital.
This charter was not without its challenges, to ensure that all items were able to fit into the hold, the loading team had to meticulously plan how to get everything on board as the space was so tight.
Another potential stumbling point was that to land in TNR, the team had to receive permission from the president of Madagascar. Permission was granted and a permit was issued, avoiding delays in delivery. Despite these challenges, the operation was a great success.
As always, the success of these operations relies on teamwork and all parties involved worked together to make sure the items arrived on time. Magma Aviation enjoyed working with Alan Louzolo at ACS France on this project and look forward to working with them in the future.
